Temagami Wilderness Adventures
CAMPING TEMAGAMI - Camping out in the Temagami wilderness with the smell of seasoned firewood surrounding the campsite and embers flying away like shooting stars through the midnight sky, the soft trickle of a nearby brook struggling to make its presence known for any and all to hear. This small vein of water runs through this pristine wilderness like the life- line that runs through our veins. Suddenly you realize that Mother Nature sustains herself much like ourselves. The only way to really appreciate nature for the true beauty it beholds, to experience it is to discover it. To live in it, is to revel in it. Temagami another great introduction to extended and remote wilderness camping adventures, right here in Ontario, Canada.
Depending on just how far you are prepared to canoe, camp or hike to, you can expect to see some of the most spectacular, undisturbed acts of nature in Temagami! Since Temagami is in the heart of a transition zone between the Boreal forest and the Great Lakes St. Lawarence hardwood forest as well as an ecological transition zone also so you get the bestof two worlds so to speak. Spring and Fall are great times to go camping in Temagami because there is such a dramatic change in the seasons and wildlife activity its like night and day or life and death, Spring and Fall. Other than storms a camper couldn't ask for better weather conditions for a camping adventure. Mother Nature can be so unpredictable, yet that's what makes her so awesome! A camera is a must! Wildlife in its natural state is the only to view it and in Temagami the opportunities are endless and beyond belief, and why a camera is a must. Other than great photos it is also a digital picture/ record of your route and of the surroundings so if you get off trail then you have your pictures to refer to just in case you are lost.
Camping during the spring months can be challenging due to the upper disturbances in the earth's atmosphere, the cold wind mixing with the warmer air can create a violent and blinding crash, although, brilliant lightening storm. Just a few sights to look for while camping during those perfect days of spring include birds migrating north, fields and meadows flourishing with wildflowers, refreshing rain showers, the emersion of butterflies into the meadows and the dense surrounding woodlands and forests full of Maple, Birch, Pine, Poplar and Evergreens, scattered patches of wild berries for berry hunting opportunities and offers some wonderful wildflower viewing especially with the gentle sprinkle of a spring shower. You may be, just lucky enough to be able to observe a spider spinning a web across the trail your hiking along where the web has crossed and been crystallized with raindrops which very much resembles a pearl necklace.
Camping in the fall can be cool, but a hike into the woods, across a vibrant layer of leaves, down a winding trail as the wind brushes across your face will be a time to remember as you recall the breathtaking fall foliage in shades of burnt orange, crimson reds, desert browns, kelly greens and soft violets which will spoil you for any other landscape other than Temagami. You'll even have a chance to view a variety of wildflowers in bloom as many wildflowers bloom throughout the year not just Spring and Summer. Just a few things you may want to keep an eye open for while camping during those brisk days of autumn are some of the smaller creatures storing food for the winter and downy birds migrating to warmer climates.
